December was a busy month for private parties. From laid back background sets for Christmas parties to surprise birthdays at gorgeous restaurants such as Michel Roux’s Waterside Inn, I had a ball singing everything from ‘Have yourself a merry little Christmas’ to ‘Do you hear the people sing’ from Les Miserables.

People sometimes ask me if I enjoy singing at small functions and the answer is easy…definitely! It is wonderful to engage with a small intimate audience and share with them their favourite songs. Many clients book me because their special someone loves opera and classical crossover songs. It is therefore such a rewarding experience to sing their special songs and to entertain audiences up close, especially for those who may not have heard opera live before. In the photos below, I was delighted to be rehired by a happy client to perform for his daughter’s birthday. She absolutely loves musical theatre and was delighted to hear all her favourite songs. I even invited her to sing a piece with me which was so much fun and brought a tear to her father’s eye. It is these moments that make my job so special.

I also love singing more ambient background sets at wedding breakfasts and corporate drinks. It gives me a chance to sing more laid back ballads and provide the backdrop for audiences to relax and enjoy their evening. I also like to make the pieces my own and love seeing the smiles on peoples faces when I serenade them with a floaty version of their favourite ballad or jazz song.

So check out my song samples page for ideas for your function or get in touch so I can tailor the perfect performance for your loved one. x
